The origin and inspiration for VOON CBD Pouches

Voon’s origins sprouted from a casual dinner discussion at the Miss Voon restaurant in Stockholm on June 25th, 2020. The people that met had long experience working in the Snus and Cannabis industry. The discussion was soon transformed into another – “Is it possible to make a great smokeless Cannabis alternative in a Snus format?”

The Challenge

The answer was not simple. Traditional snus is a form of smokeless tobacco inside a pouch placed under the upper lip. When the pouch gets wet, nicotine dissolves in the saliva and easily enters the bloodstream. Cannabis is not so easily soluble in saliva due to its oily nature, and would therefore not be absorbed efficiently by the body if just packed inside a pouch.

The Result

A Novel Nano Infused Hemp Formulation Nanoparticles are small enough to pass straight through biological membranes, allowing the hemp to be absorbed directly under the lip.

Uptake from edibles and oils may take up to 45 minutes to reach the systemic blood circulation with reduced efficiency due to interaction with the gastrointestinal tract. Delivery through the oral mucosa, on the other hand, enters the systemic circulation directly and bypasses the digestive system and metabolism in the liver.
